i'm excited with the fact that my thesis advisor asked me to share things about fashion journalism in front of the class. i told him i am a rookie but i guess he doesn't mind. so, i'll be sharing the story next tuesday and i hope i won't be a lousy talker.

i love google today

i grew up playing pac-man as a kid, back when there were no flat screens, no USBs, no external hard drives, when i were not as obsessive to technology as i am now. but 30 years after its first existence, pac-man is still alive and living. thank you google for bringing back my childhood memory! :)

i've been hearing thunder since this evening and i don't want to act like i don't know of what's happening on earth because the truth is, each and everyone of us knows. we supposed to expect summer already, but it's flood everywhere. and then, another earthquake hit Aceh for once more. it's beyond devastating now, i hope everyone gets enough strength to have faith and to fight the fear. my prayer goes to everyone in Aceh. GOD bless this country.

the novelty that covers up the stupidity

this is kind of frustrating that i seem to can't find the smoking children phenomenon on google. first, it may indicate that i have less researching skill; second, it may indicate that it's only happening in..this country?

i'm not a news person, i rarely watch news channels and care about it. i don't really keep up with newspapers either. but this afternoon, as i were watching news about children (and i mean CHILDREN not teenagers) who smoke and have their parents let them doing it, i realized that somehow it's growing as a phenomena. it begins couple of months back where i saw (on tv) a child, who was 4 or something smokes cigarettes and drinks coffee (as it's known as a habit of older people). now, it seems that there's some kind of exposure about children who smoke as a part of a news value called 'novelty', that in my opinion, has been taken way too far in the most negative way by the channel reporting it.

you can call a goat with two heads as a novelty, you can call a limb man as a novelty, but you can't call a child who smokes as a novelty, it's a social disease. it's been told that the parents are letting their children doing so because they rather have the kid smoke and be silent than not smoke and cry. what is this actually? aren't kids supposed to cry and whine? is this a joke of parents nowadays? that they don't want to see the kids cry and whine? and even worse, some people even consider the children as possessed by spirits. this is more than just a sad or tragical story, this is a stupidity that you and i buy.

this is the thing that we all must work out and fight together in modernity; a sense of worse kind of stupidity. it doesn't make any sense to me that parents would rather have their kids SICK than cry, it doesn't make sense to me that even though their children aren't diagnosed with a kind of disease that you would just let them smoke all the way; it does not make sense to me that a channel can just report it as a way to inform than to educate. there's really nothing to tell about that kind of news (just yet), so why would it be on tv? to make people accusing the parents? to make people believe in spirits? what?

so if any of you reading this and you think you know the answer, email me! it's such a huge mystery because i don't buy the 'novelty', it's definitely has been taken to a very wrong direction and you can't change my mind on that one. thank you and please don't buy any of these stupidity anymore.
